There are many citizen science projects to which you can contribute at home via your web browser. Zooniverse.org hosts many of them. I’ve participated in the Galaxy Zoo project to classifiy gallaxies seen in Hubble and Webb images. The mission is to identify and classify galaxies to train machine learning algorithms. And in the process, you learn a lot about galaxies. I think I learned more than the machine!

In addition to the numberous NASA projects on Zooniverse, NASA also hosts many aerospace projects at: scistarter.org., another great website for citizen science projects.
