Two stories recently crossed my computer:
- Via Satellite’s podcast with a recent college grad who started and successfully funded a company based on technology he found and then licensed on NASA’s Technology Transfer Portal
- The Orbit Index’s link to the MIT Technology Review story on NASA’s use of open source software for its next lunar rover.
The common thread of both stories is that much of NASA’s technology is available free or at low cost. So if you are looking to start a new space business or software for your next project, check out these sites:
Also check the major aerospace universities’ technology transfer sites. I personally was involved with two startups who licensed medical applications from UCSD’s technology transfer group.
